Stinger is a Ruby Eye with the ability to create and manipulate various types of organic pseudo-living “bugs”. Strangely, despite being a Ruby Eye, Stinger attacks all Third Eyes indiscriminately and seems to be unaffiliated with any organization.
Background[]
With very little being known about their background, Stinger is one of the series’ most mysterious characters. In fact, even their gender has not been revealed. Although they are a Ruby Eye, Stinger attacks all Third Eyes indiscriminately, appearing to show no regard for whether they are Jet Eyes or Ruby Eyes. Furthermore, they seem to be unaffiliated. However, as Lubricator was able to track Liquidizer using a tracing bug placed by Stinger, it appears as though the two were in cahoots.[1]
Appearance[]
Stinger is usually seen wearing a red cloak with the hood pulled low, completely obscuring their face.
Personality[]
As a sort of assassin, Stinger has been shown to be calm, cold, and ruthless. Showing almost no response after his leg had been torn off by Minoru’s shell, they seem to have an extraordinarily high pain tolerance and great mental control.
Third Eye[]
Abilities[]
Stinger’s main ability grants him the power to manufacture organic pseudo-living “bugs” that obey his command, which he uses with great versatility to perform feats of assassination. He has been shown to create four main types of bugs:
- Spinebug — A small bug about seven millimeters long and three millimeters wide at its thickest point. These are equipped with a sharp drill-like tip made of Iron Nitride that allows them to bury themselves into flesh with the flagella on their rear end.[2] Stinger prefers to deliver them into a target’s ears for a quick kill.
- Missilebug — A bug equipped with Acetone Peroxide (TATP, chemical formula C9H18O6), a high-performance explosive often used by terrorists. These explode when they hit their target.[3]
- Wireworm — A long, thin, thread-like worm that has a structure similar to human muscle fiber, allowing it to expand and contract freely.[4] Stinger uses these for traps, restraints, and creating clothing.
- Threadbug — A small, seven-centimeter-long cone-shaped bug that allows Stinger to track people that are tagged with them via a wireless signal. If they are unable to do so, they produce white thread as a sign.[5]
Using his wireworms, Stinger is able to weave a coat of the thread-like bugs that is bulletproof and completely immune to Liquidizer’s liquefaction abilities. Furthermore, by morphing them into large bat-like wings, Stinger is able to fly.
Detection Radius[]
Stinger’s detection radius has not been explicitly stated, but it should be quite large given its vast level of particle manipulation.
Affiliation[]
Attacking Jet Eyes and Ruby Eyes indiscriminately, Stinger appears to be unaffiliated with any organization. However, as Lubricator was able to track Liquidizer using a tracing bug placed by Stinger, it appears as though the two were in cahoots. In fact, the two may be affiliated with a Ruby Eye organization separate from the Syndicate.[1]
